*TERMS OF SALE. PLEASE VISIT STORE POLICY PAGE*

Isopods can be shipped via priority mail, 2-day shipping, or overnight. If your temps are below 40F or above 80F, your package will be MARKED FOR PICKUP at your nearest shipping hub (dependent on the carrier you purchased). If you would like a specific hub, please include the address in the order notes!). This will ensure that your new kiddos reach you safely with LAG!  Your package can be delivered to the door per your request, but this VOIDS ANY LAG. Held packages must be picked up the same day. Photographs of DOAs in held and door-delivered packages must be sent one hour after the package has been marked as "Delivered". Please take lots of pictures! Bonus for a video of the opening!

Each count of isopods contains a few extra individuals. These individuals are not covered by the LAG. For example, if you purchase a 10-count of isopods, you will receive 10 + a few more individuals. You are eligible for partial refunds or credit for any death below the guaranteed count (10 in the example), but not for the extras ;)

  • V. Parvus 'Blackpoint' is a moderately prolific dwarf Isopod that prefers to spend most of its time buried in the substrate. I culture them in a deep substrate layer (4in) with a humidity between 70-90%, temperatures between 70-85°F, and no moisture gradient. You can culture them in vivariums with a lower relative humidity if you provide adequate leaf litter. They prefer a moist substrate (moist enough that you can almost squeeze water out of it) that is rich in decaying wood matter. I use BOSS premium hardwood pellets to enrich their media. I always provide a 'humidity corner' to my isopods with damp sphagnum moss and powdered calcium to prevent mismolting (usually on the side opposite to the vent). V. Parvus has done well in my high airflow and sealed terrariums and vivariums.

  • I keep V. pavus in quite a few of my tanks. This species does an AMAZING job at aerating the substrate, leading to fuller and healthier plants. I keep them in all of my crested gecko enclosures because they have NO PROTEIN DRIVE, and will leave your reptiles' eggs alone, unlike the commonly cultured dwarf white and dwarf purple isopods. There are variations in size between different V. parvus morphs, and the larger 'Red Antennae' can tolerate drier conditions, unlike the ducky face and '264' morphs.
